Top Cuban Band Bamboleo’s Uk Debut July 18th @ The HMV Forum, Kentish Town, London

¡Como No! presents Bamboleo at the HMV Forum Kentish Town, 9-17 Highgate Road, London, NW5 1JY.

Top Cuban Band Bamboleo’s Uk Debut July 18th @ The HMV Forum, Kentish Town, London
Since their glorious inception in 1995, Bamboleo have remained the cutting edge popular dance band at the top of the musical tree in their native Cuba. Tirelessly innovative and inspirational, their highly combustible funky dance grooves have been thrilling the world since 1996 when they began touring outside their native island.

In the main vanguard of the spectacular Timba explosion of the nineties, Bamboleo were and still are an extraordinary cultural phenomenon whose influence has seeped through into a whole generation of Cubans, introducing fresh styles of dance, fashion and language.

Under the musical direction of the stunningly gifted Lazaro Valdes, pianist, arranger and composer, the band’s ceaseless string of extraordinary hits continues unbroken to this very day. Take a trip to any Cuban nights in our capital and you’ll find yourself being driven uncontrollably to the dance floor by recent classics La Que Manda and La Dormadura/ El Animal medley. And that’s how it’s been for the last 13 years – dip into the vibrant musical jamboree bag that is Cuba and you’ll find Bamboleo’s exceptionally distinct flavour everywhere.

And now, finally, thanks to the tireless work of ¡Como No!, London’s leading promoter of Latin events who brought Los Van Van to The Roundhouse in March, they are making their UK debut in old London Town. Supported by a trio of our fair city’s top Cuban DJs, Dr Jim, Javier De La Rosa and La Clave Cubana’s Richard Fallon. People, this will be a night of Cuban musical bliss that’ll shake your hips and energise your musical soul and must absolutely not, on any account,
be missed!

Havana Rumba! - The New Generation, Tuesday 31 March to Sunday 3 May

Havana Rumba! - The New Generation, Tuesday 31 March to Sunday 3 May
Havana Rumba! - The New Generation, Tuesday 31 March to Sunday 3 May

Riverside Studios Hammersmith London presents the UK premier of Havana Rumba!, Cuba’s hottest dance show which celebrates the emotions of rhythm and rumba live on stage.

Recession Tickets! There is a limited number of recession-beating £10 tickets available for each show. Book now while tickets last - call the Box Office on 020 8237 1111 now.

Featuring the country’s best musicians and dancers, Havana Rumba! is an exhilarating and infectious slice of contemporary Cuban life. Come and be dazzled by this sun-drenched street party that got the audience on its feet every night at the Edinburgh Festival.

With the right groove in their hips, the young dancers – Cuba’s new generation – showcase their skills. With power and precision, modern salsa and rumba rhythms are put in the spotlight. The full use of physical strength and the lively dance style are contagious, sexy and intoxicating.

However at its heart Havana Rumba! is a serious story of the marginalised poor people of Cuba, where the rumba brings freedom and escape from the hardships of daily life.

Havana Rumba! - The New Generation, Tuesday 31 March to Sunday 3 May
The show tells the story of Ramon, the king of Rumba and his son Papito, who sings reggaeton, the music of the new generation. Papito dreams of going to the States to win a Grammy and imagines that the streets of Miami are paved with gold. Like many before him, Papito leaves Cuba on a raft, to find fame and fortune.

Through the characters of Ramon and Papito, Havana Ramba! takes the audience on a musical journey, from the fertility dances of the African slaves, the music of the fifties, the mambo, cha cha cha and son, to the thrilling music of Cuba today, the salsa, the timba, and the reggeton.

For reviews, music and videos go to www.havanarumba.co.uk

Havana Rumba! features the legendary group Sonora la Calle - ten of Cuba’s finest musicians, the cast includes Eric Turro who danced with the Buena Vista Social Club and Ramon Padila, a legend of Cuban dance who sang with Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra.

The quality and exuberance of the dancing is staggering. Havana Rumba! offers an exhilarating and infectuous slice of today's Cuba. ***** - The Scotsman
